We spend an all-inclusive day at Almaplena from the cruise port. It was the best experience we had on our trip. We were treated like celebrities. Drinks were generous and delicious. Our lunch was even better. The chef brought us amazing appetizers and an excellent combination of shrimp tacos and steak tacos. The sun was out, the water warm and we felt totally relaxed on our brief stay.
Oh my!! What a fantastic experience! We came here for an excursion during our cruise and it did not disappoint! The location is secluded about 30 minutes from the Costa Maya cruise port and is away from the hustle and bustle of the crowds. The micheladas are THE best I have ever had anywhere. The mixed drinks were terrific and the food was terrific!! We took a tour of the hotel rooms and they were quiet, quaint and very private with an awesome view! We may take a land based vacation here sometime soon and stay for a long weekend. We will be back in Costa Maya for anothet cruise in July and we will definitely be coming back to Almaplena! It is worth the extra cost for the exclusivity, service and food and drinks!!
We booked this all inclusive beach day on a port cruise day. The travel time was about 25 minutes and seemed sketchy, but as soon as we arrived I was very delighted! We were greeted by the owner and immediately welcomed in. He had lounge chairs set up and reserved for us. It was a truly serene experience. Only 4 other couples were at the resort at the moment so it was like having this gorgeous beach to ourselves. No boats, or people walking by just the ocean to gaze at. Lunch was fantastic. Our bartender was the best.
